About Girl Wonder Athletic Productions
Girl Wonder Athletic Productions (GWaP) is an online community: a Web-based, Interactive, Multi-media Production company in pre-startup phase. Founder, Candace M. Younghans is building GWaP to reflect the positive impact of artistic expression upon mental and physical health. She is developing an online community in which you come for the art and entertainment, stay to discuss it, become inspired to participate in its creation and utilize the site to pave your own pathway to mental and physical strength and resilience.
It is also a unique platform for independent artists to showcase and potentially generate revenue from their work.
Funds raised at The Experimental Art Rocktail Party will be used to produce the initial pieces of creative content for the site. Both directed by Camille “June” Gregoire, the first is a short film which June wrote, “Chicken or The Egg”, and the second a dance theatre film, “In Their Silence” to be developed in collaboration with Rosannah Riess and Candace M. Younghans.

“Chicken or the Egg”
“Chicken or the Egg” is a darkly flamboyant apocalyptic tale about the fine line between creation and destruction. It’s the story of a cautious but disgruntled fast food worker, Mary, who finally gives in to the American dream and the pervading belief that there is an inherent benevolence in “trusting your gut”. As things around her begin to unravel, she becomes certain that, as suspected, her gut has quite literally been co-opted and she is faced with a perplexing choice. If the Coen Brothers were to remake Rosemary’s Baby infuse it with modern political and economic anxieties and let it steep with soulful contemporary gospel music it might look something like this. This will be the 3rd film which Camille has teamed with the talented Director of Photography, Satsuki Mirashuge. To see some of their work check them out on Vimeo.
“In Their Silence”
This dance theatre film will expand upon a piece Candace choreographed for the stage in 2002. That piece, called “In Her Silence”, gives the audience a voyeuristic view into one young woman’s psyche as she prepares for bed and struggles to reconcile herself to her body. The film will take this concept further and explore the internal world (internal dialogue, thoughts and dreams) of multiple residents in a housing complex, each when they are home alone. Highlighting the things we rarely share with others, the things we remain silent about, most of the story will be expressed through physicality and music with text used sparingly.
About the filmmaker
Camille and Candace met studying choreography at San Francisco State University and connected instantly over their interests in storytelling and the arts as powerful catalysts to the wellness of a society.
Camille June Gregoire is a San Francisco based writer/director. Raised in Texas, Italy, Hawaii and San Francisco she has always been fascinated with the co-mingling and clash of divergent world views and their effect on the individual’s struggle within a fragmented modern world. She sets out to draw audiences into the colorful psychological realities of her characters and to create cinematic worlds which marry both a gritty familiarity and a surreal psychological potency.
Camille grew interested in storytelling while studying choreography and photo journalism at San Francisco State University, where she crafted award winning dances. Determined to translate her visceral visual sensibility to film, she began making short films and set out to obtain a technical understanding of filmmaking. For the last several years she has worked professionally as a camera assistant on shorts, commercials, music videos and features and has produced and assistant directed documentary, commercial and indie projects.
The bands
Her Aquatic Sunrise
This group was formed by Joe Miller specifically for The Experimental Art Rocktail Party. They will combine euro-latin lounge sounds of 1960’s films with the epic sounds of late 70’s early 80’s art rock including David Bowie covers and some original works by Joe Miller – a sneak preview of his rock opera “Telibus Nubius and the Organ Lust”. The group is comprised of musicians from local indie bands: Joe Miller of the bands The Lovely Public and Mark Matos and Os Beaches; Grant Goodrich of Battlehooch; David Nichols of Battlehooch; Matt Adams of The Blank Tapes; and Joe Lewis, also a member of Mark Matos and Os Beaches and the owner of the sweet venue Blue Six Acoustic Room.
In the landscape of lo-fi romanticism, geek chic, and irony, Nero Nava (formerly of barbarasteele) returns with a stripped down rock and roll coup d'etat called NN (pronounced "enne enne"). Influenced by drunken punk poets, and the theatricality of class, NN comes for your mind through your body. With an aesthetic palette that recalls "The Lost Generation", NN is forward thinking and classic at once. Rock and Roll for the high and low brow. If you miss Rock and Roll with sexuality, angst, showmanship and a story, this one's for you.

About the musical director for the Experimental Art Rocktail Party
Joe Miller helped create the group The Lovely Public and Syd’s Last Trip a tribute to Syd Barret. He plays with numerous groups around town including Subimage, Mark Matos and Os Beaches, Quinn Deveaux and Pope of Yes. A chameleon of a drummer, Joe can play anything from Psychedelic Rock to Jazz to Blue Grass. His core interests lie in art rock and he is currently composing a rock opera entitled "Telibus Nubius and the Organ Lust", a future project for GWaP. Thanks to Joe, Candace has some damn good musicians rallying for the cause. Thx Joe!
